CHECK OUT THE YOUTH NEWSLETTER FOR Summer 2010.

FUMY (Faith United Methodist Youth) is the Junior and Senior High Youth Group of Faith United Methodist Church.  Junior High is 7th through 8th grade. Senior High is 9th through 12th grade. Events and activities include fun and fellowship, service and mission projects, outreach, and youth led worship.  Heather Scherer is our Jr. & Sr. High Youth Minister.

The Extreme Tweens is our special 'Tween ministry for youth in 5th and 6th grade. This ministry is designed to meet the social, emotional, physical and spiritual needs of youth at this stage of faith development.  Each year the Extreme Team learns about and participates in the Heifer Project (a worldwide mission program) and in alternating years: Jesus' life and times in "33 AD" or John Wesley's life and ministry in "Wesley Days."  Laura Eldridge  is our Extreme Team Director.

GLOBAL VILLAGE PROJECT -  6TH & 7TH GRADERS

This is a fun, educational opportunity for our youth that goes along with the Heifer Project our Extreme Team work with each year—where they learn how providing animals for various geographical regions can make a world of difference. Participants will be assigned a “home country,” learn about the customs, economy, etc. of that country, and learn how to barter and trade for food and other necessities.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

All classes meet for approximately one hour. We use curriculum that helps youth understand scripture and apply it to their lives.

9:40 am-Intergenerational Class in "Common Grounds" of the Youth Wing.
11:00 am- Extreme Team in the Youth Annex (the east side of the Great Hall).
11:00 am-Individual classes for 7th through 12th grades in the Youth Wing.

SUNDAY EVENING

Jr High and Sr High meet from 6:00-8:00 pm every Sunday evening. Events and activities include fun and fellowship, service and mission projects, outreach and youth led worship. We invite you to come hang out this Sunday! Check the church calendar on the home page for specific information each week!

Extreme Team meets one Sunday afternoon a month for a "Big Fun Thing". These events range from ice skating to messy games.

WEDNESDAY EVENING

5th and 6th Graders
This Fall the Extreme Tweens will have some new changes in their program.  For those youth interested in singing, Timothy Putnam will be leading the Junior Chorale which meets in the Adult Choir Room at 6:00.  Those interested in group games and fellowship will meet in the Great Hall (gym) at 6:00.  Both groups will return to the Annex from 6:45-8:00 for snack and Bible study.  We will begin a study on world hunger and what we can do about it.  The 6th graders will be attending Global Village on October 16-17 where they will experience first hand the problems of hunger and poverty.

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you came to visit me.”  Matthew 25:35-36

In the Spring the ET’s will begin their study on our Methodist history with the John Wesley Immersion Study.  We will study John Wesley from his early childhood experiences through the beginnings of the Methodist movement in America.  The study concludes with an overnight event complete with the construction of both an English village and an American settlement.

“Best of all, God is with us.” John Wesley’s final words

7th thru 12th Grade Small Groups support and encourage participants in their faith walk.  Divided by age/grade and gender.  All groups meet at the church for 1 1/2 hours with 30 minutes of fellowship and recreation time at the end.  Topics cover social issues, Bible study, weekly challenges, and much more.  We gather in Fellowship Hall for youth led Praise and Prayer at 6pm.

SUMMER CAMPS

Faith participates in a variety of summer camps offered throughout the state of Oklahoma at our three United Methodist campgrounds.  A registration booklet with all camp dates and locations is published in April/May.

MISSIONS
"Bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God. " Col 1:10

Faith is a missional church, and our Youth Department is very active in missions throughout the year. Each month we participate in a mission project doing everything from baking cookies to helping build a Habitat home.  Senior High mission trips usually include Rio Bravo, Mexico and a poverty mission trip to an inner-city location. In 2009, our seniors and graduates went to Washington D. C.  Junior High mission trips have been within the state to Youth Force (Stillwater 2007, and hosted Youth Force Tulsa 2008, OKC in 2009).  Extreme Team and Jr. High together participate in Local Missions Camp in outreach in the Tulsa Area and F.R.O.G. camp for upcoming 5th graders.  Extreme Team also participates annual in Heifer International's Global Village immersion experience in Arkansas.
